Care is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each stage of development.

Getting Started

Yes. Dr. Wald sees children, teens, and young adults, roughly ages 6 through 25. Each stage calls for a different approach, so the work is shaped around where your child is developmentally: play-based and expressive sessions for younger children, and more collaborative, insight-focused work with teens and young adults. If you are unsure whether it is the right time, a brief consultation is the easiest way to find out.

The first appointment is a relaxed conversation, not a test. For younger children, parents usually attend so Dr. Wald can hear your concerns and history together. With teens and young adults, sessions often begin one on one. You will talk through what brought you in, what you are hoping for, and what daily life looks like right now. You leave with a clear sense of the plan and whether the fit feels right, with no pressure to commit beyond that.

It depends on your child's age and goals. With younger children, parents are closely involved and often join part of each session, because the changes that matter most happen at home. With teens and young adults, individual sessions stay private to protect trust, while Dr. Wald checks in with parents at agreed points and honors your child's confidentiality. These expectations are set together at the very start so everyone knows what to expect.

There is no fixed timeline. Some families come for a focused stretch of roughly eight to twelve sessions around a specific concern, while others stay longer for deeper or ongoing support. Dr. Wald reviews progress with you regularly, so you always know how things are going and when it may be time to space out or step back from sessions.

Fees, Insurance & Logistics

Both. In-person sessions are held at the Coral Gables office, and secure video sessions are available for families who prefer to meet from home. Through PSYPACT authorization, Dr. Wald can provide telehealth to clients in more than 40 participating states, which is especially helpful for college students and families who travel or split time between homes.

Wald Psychology is an out-of-network practice and does not bill insurance directly. After each session you receive a detailed superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement, and sessions are eligible for HSA and FSA payment. The initial intake is $250 and ongoing 50-minute sessions are $200. Dr. Wald is glad to help you check your out-of-network benefits before you begin.

We ask for at least 24 hours notice to reschedule or cancel a session. Because your appointment time is reserved just for you, sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are charged the full fee. Life happens, so reach out as early as you can and we will always try to find another time that works.

The office is at 255 Alhambra Circle, Suite 400, in Coral Gables, one block from Miracle Mile. It is easy to reach from Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Pinecrest, and greater Miami, with nearby parking. Full directions and parking notes are sent with your appointment confirmation.
